I finally put together Annie's first dollhouse this week and, of course, she love it! Her only problem is that her little brother likes it too... He has been terroizing the little family that lives in Annie's dollhouse all week! This reminds me of a story Sam's mom, Carolyn, told me about Sam when he was a little boy:
Sam's Pawpaw made his older sister a neat dollhouse. When Sam was a little boy he decided it would be fun to play like he was King Kong and reek havoc on the dollhouse. When he got in trouble for destroying the dollhouse, he pleaded with his parents that, "King Kong did it!!" To this day he says he was pretending to be King Kong so that really wasn't a lie.
Those of you that have seen Hudson and Sam t0gether can atest that Hudson looks very much like his father. I am sure I passed along some genes, but we have yet to see which ones. Aside from looking like a "mini-Sam," Hudson has his father's temperment, his need for food at regular times throughout the day (and subsequent bad mood when hungry), and now they share this sweet childhood story. Annie has yet to find a place where she can be at peace playing with her dollhouse, but thankfully, it is plastic, there are no parts that Hudson can choke on, and she has learned to share!
Hudson learned that he likes the taste of crayons...
Other events this week...I took the kids to the Sea Turtle Hatchary we have here in Galveston. There were hundreds of sea turtles of all sizes and ages. Annie loved it so much that we subsequently had to go the the public library to check out books about sea turtles, which she has been pouring through. The only rule was, "do not touch!" As you can see from the pictures, Annie bent the rules a little bit, but overall, she did great. Afterwards we played at a little park that was right outside and ate lunch. I think Hudson enjoyed the park a little more than the turtles! Warning to any of you who are thinking about venturing to see the sea turtles, it is very hot and humid inside the hatchary...
